ALERT

Union State Bank has been notified of a fraud originating, we believe, in Canada. The scam originates on the Internet, asking people to work as a secret shopper. Once a person signs up, they are forwarded a high-dollar check in their name which they are asked to cash. They are told to shop various stores, including stores such as Money Gram. They are instructed to send a large sum of money back to the Internet company that sent them the original check. They are told not to let the stores know they are a "secret shopper" and are supposed to be rating the service at these businesses.

The check is green in color and shows Union State Bank, 223 Ellis Street, Kewaunee, WI as the bank the check is drawn on. The telephone numbers on the check are 905-781-3503 (or 3583) and a fax number of 905-243-3120.

THESE are fraudulent checks and this is a scam. You should not attempt to cash these checks.
